Animals Today is a weekly talk show that
entertains, enlightens and challenges listeners with a variety of
topics related to animals, their interactions with people, and their
place in society. Ranging from domestic pets and wild animals, to
animal cruelty and law and industry, issues are explored through interviews
with experts, special features, and commentary by Dr. Lori Kirshner.
Lori L. Kirshner, M.D.
Los Angeles native Lori Kirshner graduated from UCLA with a degree
in biology and settled in Palm Springs after completing a residency
in Ophthalmology.
A life long animal lover, in 2000 Lori founded the non-profit
organization, Desert Paws, which promotes compassion and respect
toward all animals. Each month Desert Paws publishes a full page
Pet Adoption Ad in the Desert Sun featuring adoptable animals from
all the shelters in the Coachella Valley.
For several years, Lori appeared on the KESQ Ch.3 television 'Show
We Care' segment with a shelter animal promoting adoptions and giving
practical tips on pet care. Lori is the recipient of the ARF award
in 2004 for merit and service to the community, the Jefferson award
in 2005, and the Linda Blair World Heart Foundation Advocate of
the Year award.
As the host of Animals Today, Lori tackles the important and interesting
topics concerning all animals and their place in society.
When not performing her duties as an eye surgeon, Lori enjoys
exercising and being with her family including producer/husband
Peter, and their adopted dogs and cats.
